It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through 2023.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the most popular New Year’s resolutions in 2023 were to exercise more, eat healthier, and lose weight.
However, by Valentine’s Day, 80% of Americans had already thrown in the towel.
If you find yourself in the 80% cohort, despair not! There’s no need for shame or excuses. There’s a simple prescription to put you back on track.
No, not an exotic diet. Or a recently concocted all-in-one chemical elixir. Nor a repurposed herb with just discovered magical powers.
Nope. It’s even simpler…
Just move. Move early and move often.
There’s nothing stopping you but you. Wake up, get your coffee, and go to the gym. Or, to the pool.
Or, ride your bike. Walk the dog. Do 40 minutes of Tai Chi or yoga in the basement.
Mix and match: Ride your bike to the gym or walk Fido to the nearby coffee shop.
Cop an attitude. Park your car far from the store’s front door instead of circling the lot, looking for the nearest spot. Take the stairs, not the elevator or escalator.
Stick to a plan. Make Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays gym days. Hit the pool on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Or do whatever moves you when it moves you.
No gym? No pool? No bike?
No excuse is required. How about a 30-minute hike?
So, walk before you run, but join the movement today.
Sir Isaac Newton observed that “an object in motion tends to stay in motion.” Take small steps to start but start now.
Right now.
Stand up, set your feet, and reach for the sky. Then touch your toes. Walk around the office or house.
Just move.
Want some fun and accountability while you move?
