Moments of Victory® – Vikas Chinnan Brings His Team to Tour de Victory

Untitled design (21)

Each month, we spotlight an inspiring story from someone in our Team DPF® community who is helping to improve the quality of life of people living with Parkinson’s. Today, we are happy to feature Vikas Chinnan, who was joined by two close friends at this year’s Tour de Victory.

WHICH EVENT DID YOU PARTICIPATE IN?

2023 Tour de Victory in Lafayette, Colorado!

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN TEAM DPF?

I decided to fundraise for the Foundation for a few reasons. 1) I wanted the challenge of biking at altitude in a beautiful setting. 2) I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s just about a year ago at age 47, and I consider myself fortunate to have a great healthcare team and family support. 3) I feel compelled to give back to the Parkinson’s community to support others to live well with Parkinson’s.

WHAT Is YOUR BEST MEMORY From YouR TEAM DPF Event?

I really enjoyed the event, especially tackling the route with two of my close friends. Another one of the best parts of fundraising was getting such kind notes of support from friends and family making donations!

WHAT challenges did you face while fundraising?

I didn’t face any real challenges when fundraising. Being recently diagnosed, I have a lot of people in my corner and wishing me well.

what three actions helped you most?

Facebook, Facebook, and Facebook! The connector makes it really easy to share your fundraiser and progress. For me, it feels more like sharing my story than asking for donations from friends and family.

What advice or encouragement would you offer someone interested in Fundraising for the Davis Phinney Foundation?

Just do it! The events are fun and well-organized. You’ll be surprised at how much your friends and family are willing to support you!

DO YOU HAVE A TEAM DPF OR FUNDRAISING STORY YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?
