Parkinson’s Advocacy Day 2018

PARKINSON'S ADVOCACY DAY 2018

Join us for Parkinson’s Advocacy Day!

What is it?

A day when 300 people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners will be on Capitol Hill to conduct in-person congressional meetings as part of the 2018 Parkinson’s Policy Forum. They will discuss the importance of federal funding for Parkinson’s research and policies that support comprehensive care.

When is it?

Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Who is sponsoring this event?

The Parkinson’s Foundation and The Michael J. Fox Foundation

Will the Davis Phinney Foundation send representation?

Yes! Davis Phinney Foundation Ambassadors Brian and Lily Reedy (and Dempsey), Cidnee Donahoo, John Alexander, Tom Palizzi, Steve Quam and Amy Carlson are heading to DC as we speak. And Alex Reinhardt, our Community Outreach Manager, will be joining them as well.

How can I get involved, remotely?

The Forum begins with two days of policy training sessions, which you can take part in from the comfort of your own home. Or wherever you may be. Visit The Michael J. Fox Foundation Facebook page on Monday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 20, to watch these panels live and get pointers on how to talk (and write) to lawmakers. Also, be sure to tune in at 8:30 am Eastern on March 20th to listen to special remarks from Senator Cory Booker.

On Wednesday, March 21, visit their Facebook page again for instructions on how to contact your Congress members. By sharing your needs and priorities with elected officials on this day of action, you can play a critical role in shaping their decision-making.

Together, let’s be even more powerful advocates for people living with Parkinson’s!

USE YOUR VOICE. TODAY AND EVERY DAY.

Having a day devoted to standing up for Parkinson’s is great, but you have the power to use your voice each and every day. And it’s not as difficult as you may think to make your voice heard. Call your congressional representative or senator at their local office or in their Washington, D.C. office. Some also maintain satellite offices around the state. All members of Congress can also be contacted by email, and most maintain a social media presence, as well. Visit usa.gov/elected-officials for a complete list of elected officials and how to contact them. Be active and be connected, you can make a difference today.
