The Parkinson’s Home Safety Checklist

Parkinson's Home Safety Checklist Feature Davis Phinney Foundation

Making your home safe and comfortable is an important part of living well with Parkinson’s.

That’s why we’ve spent the past couple of months asking people with Parkinson’s, occupational therapists (OTs), physical therapists (PTs) and care partners some of the most instrumental changes people with Parkinson’s can make to ensure their home is as safe and as comfortable as possible.

Parkinson's Home Safety ChecklistWe then put all of the information we gathered from those interviews together and created the Parkinson’s Home Safety Checklist especially for you. You can download the checklist here.

While we do encourage those who are considering making modifications to their home or adding adaptive devices to it to have an OT or a PT come to their home to help them make changes that will truly serve them, we think this checklist is a great starting point. Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference when it comes to living well.

If there’s something you’ve done that’s made a positive difference for you and it’s not yet on the checklist, please leave us a comment. We’d love to read even more great ideas.
