Joan Emerson

Biddeford, Maine

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2007. It was a complete shock to me as I had always tried to keep myself in good shape, and there was no history of Parkinson’s in my family. My journey was a little bumpy at first, but after finding good doctors, participating in support groups and clinical trials, and continuing to exercise daily, life is good.

After many years of keeping my diagnosis to myself, I am ready to share my journey. I want to help those who want help, especially the newly diagnosed, by sharing my knowledge and helping them understand what I can.

What excites me most about being a Foundation Ambassador is having a wonderful group of people and access to information I can use to help others. When I’m not doing this work, you’ll find me spending quality time with family and friends.
