Jim Allen

Augusta, Georgia

In Spring 2021, I began experiencing a worsening tremor, balance troubles, and short-term memory loss. I received my official diagnosis of Parkinson’s that August. Since then, I have become involved in a local support group, watched dozens of webinars and videos to learn more about Parkinson’s, and adopted new habits that help me live better each day. I have a new sleep routine, exercise daily, and incorporate physical, occupational, and speech therapy into my regular schedule. My goal is to make each day count.

I decided to become a Davis Phinney Foundation Ambassador because I believe in the Foundation’s mission and love helping others navigate their Parkinson’s diagnosis. When I’m not chatting with others living with Parkinson’s, you can find me spending time with my wife, playing pickleball with friends, reading, walking, napping, eating out, or watching my favorite British detective series.
