As a lifelong runner and active person, a few years ago I noticed suspicious, potential signs of Parkinson’s in my movement, such as a mild tremor and unilateral shoulder/arm stiffness. I was familiar with the disease as my mother struggled through Parkinson’s. A positive Syn-One test led my movement disorder specialist to make a diagnosis of Early Parkinson’s Disease. While my symptoms remain very mild, I have participated in studies and have read and listened to forums which shed light on prevention and slowing the progression.

Parkinson’s has taught me to focus on my health—exercise, diet, sleep, and moments of happiness. For me, “Living well with Parkinson’s Disease” means striving to slow progression. I view a DPF ambassadorship as an opportunity to better understand research and promote safer environments and healthier lifestyles for future generations.”
