Fernando Cubillos, MD

Fernando has been passionate and deeply committed to enhancing the quality of care for individuals impacted by chronic neurological diseases. With his background in medicine, he has dedicated his expertise to serving on scientific committees, advocacy working groups, and advisory boards to create vital educational initiatives and programs for the Parkinson’s community.
He earned his Medical Doctor and Surgeon degree from the Rosario University School of Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia, where he practiced for 8 years. After moving to the United States, Fernando has leveraged his clinical and educational experience to work with non-profit, healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and industry leaders. He worked for the University of Miami in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine where he coordinated clinical trials and led the revamping of the Cystic Fibrosis Research Center for adults and pediatric patients. In 2013, he joined the Parkinson’s Foundation where he led research programs and developed initiatives to improve quality of care and outcomes within the Parkinson’s community. Fernando is no stranger to the Davis Phinney Foundation where he has also been an active member of the scientific committee contributing to the Hispanic Community Engagement Program.
In addition to his professional goals, he enjoys staying active at the gym and participating in outdoor activities at the beach. Additionally, he enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.
