Dr. Romero is an Associate Professor of psychology and the Director of Interdisciplinary Studies at Union College and an Associate Professor of neurology at Albany Medical College. His research interests are in developing evidence-based programs to remediate or mitigate cognitive issues in different patient populations. Dr. Romero received his undergraduate degree from Berklee College of Music, his PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of Colorado and his post-doctoral training from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. At Union College, he worked as lead Principal Investigator on a successful grant for the creation of Union College’s Center for Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary program bringing together faculty from four different Union College departments and research opportunities for students at Albany Medical College. In his position at Albany Medical College, Dr. Romero played a large part in the development of the 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner. He believes that the future of academic research, teaching and product development will necessitate collaborations across traditional academic disciplinary lines, as well as across academic and industry lines.
